About the Immigration Judge

Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Charissa S. Dvorak as an immigration judge in March 2020. Judge Dvorak earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1995 from Baylor University, a Master of Arts in 1996 from Baylor University, a Juris Doctor in 1999 from Baylor University, and a Master of Business Administration in 2010 from Houston Baptist University. From 2016 to 2020, she was an attorney with Spencer Fane LLP, in Dallas. From 2012 to 2020, she was a lead investigator for GRACE, a national non-profit, in Lynchburg, Virginia. From 2000 to 2011, she served as an assistant criminal district attorney in Texas for the District Attorney Offices of Harris County, McLennan County, and Dallas County. Judge Dvorak is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

    It is a pleasure to appear before her. Hard to believe that she has only been an immigration judge for two years. She’s extremely professional, polite and compassionate without sounding condescending at all.

    Glad she’s on the bench and hope we have her here in Houston for a very long time.

    judge Dvorak Charissa is very Polite and nice dignified lady. I love to see her in my next hearing. we have been suffering and go through from this case more than a decay. I love to listen her professional remarks on our case. we filed this case in 2001 April 30th. at that time my elder son was only 12 years old now he is 32 years old and he has married with citizen of USA and have one year old daughter. my younger son was only 8 years old now he is 28 years old, He did his Bachelor in Anthropology his goal was to become a Neuro Surgeon he is extremely Dis-hearted and quite study and doing job as ordinary student. I came here for my kids and my self to do higher education. I have couple of Masters in Science from my country. I am science teacher I graduated from University of Houston in 2009 as an honor roll student in Curriculum and Instruction Secondary science in teaching field. for my Master in education we paid international fee. Now this is our country we spent our lives 24 years more that 2 decays .we have our relatives in Pakistan but we do not have home or house. we can not live rest of our life with out our kids. my husband is Chef he was working in restaurant (subway). his boss was sponsored us. Two years ago he got open Heart surgery (July 5th, 2019 thank God he is with us and recover good. we both lost our parents. last month he lost his elder brother because of heart attack.
    I think Judge Dvorak Charissa know how to handle this kind of cases she has excellent education she has 2 masters and juris doctor great education as well as good experience. She know she has in her hand many peoples life God Bless her and live healthy and safe.
