About the Immigration Judge

Attorney General Eric Holder appointed Judge Martinez in August 2010. Judge Martinez received a bachelor or arts degree in 1994 from Amherst College and a juris doctorate in 2000 from Columbia University School of Law. From 2005 to August 2010, Judge Martinez served as deputy chief counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Department of Homeland Security, San Antonio, Texas. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as assistant chief counsel for ICE in New York, N.Y., and San Antonio. From 2000 to 2001, he was assistant chief counsel for the former Immigration and Naturalization Service in Newark, N.J. Judge Martinez is a member of the New York State Bar.
