Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Andrea Koppenhofer as an immigration judge in June 2020. Judge Koppenhofer earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from Dominican University and a Juris Doctor in 1991 from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. From 2016 to 2020, she served as a municipal relief judge, in Aurora, Boulder, Centennial, Edgewater, and Thornton, Colorado. From 2015 to 2016, she was a legal consultant and project manager with Grays Peak Strategies, in Arvada, Colorado. From 2011 to 2016, she served as a district court magistrate in the 19th Judicial District of Colorado. From 2010 to 2011, she was an associate attorney with Harris Family Law Firm, in Denver. From 2007 to 2010, she was an attorney with Blomfelt & Associates, in Windsor, Colorado. From 1999 to 2006, she was in private practice, in Kane County and DuPage County, Illinois. From 1991 to 1995, she served as an assistant state attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, in Chicago. Judge Koppenhofer is a member of the Colorado State Bar and Illinois State Bar.
