About the Immigration Judge

Evan P. Schultz was appointed as an Immigration Judge to begin hearing cases in March 2022. Judge Schultz earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1991 from Columbia College of Columbia University, studied as a Raoul Wallenberg scholar in 1991 to 1992 at Hebrew University of
Jerusalem, earned a Master of Arts in 1995 from the University of Virginia, and a Juris Doctor in 1995 from the University of Virginia School of Law. From 2015 to 2022, he served as a lawyer in the Appellate Section of the Office of Immigration Litigation, U.S. Department of Justice. At various times during his career, he practiced law in-house at a trade association and at law firms in the District of Columbia. From 2004 to 2005, he served as Counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee to Senator Dianne Feinstein. From 1999 to 2004, he worked as a journalist, includingat Legal Times in the District of Columbia. In 1997, he served as a clerk for Judge Rosemary Barkett on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, in Miami; and from 1995 to 1996, heserved as a clerk to Justice Jay Rabinowitz on the Alaska Supreme Court, in Juneau, Alaska. Judge Schultz is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
